How it works

Inklings is a bullet journal you type. Each day is a page. Each line starts with a bullet that says what it is. Tasks don't get lost: anything left open waits until you decide.

Write a line

Start it with a bullet. That's the whole notation. The app draws it, and it stays plain text underneath.

. Call the vetA task. Tap its dot to tick it.

o Party at 7An event.
- Slept wellA note.
* . Call the vetA priority.
# BooksA collection: a list of its own.

The life of a task

  1. 1

    Write it

On today's page: . Call the plumber

  2. 2

    Do it

Tap its dot and it's done: x Call the plumber. Most tasks end here.

  3. 3

    Not done? It waits

The next day it waits at the top of Today, marked "from yesterday". You choose:

    • Today brings it onto today's page. The old line is marked <, so the day it came from still shows it.
    • Later sets it aside. It's marked > and waits in Later, on the calendar.
    • Let go takes it out. Undo brings it back.
  4. 4

    Put it on a day

On the calendar, pick a task up from Later and put it on a day. On that day it's on Today's page.

Nothing open is ever lost. Every task is done, on a day, in Later, or let go.

You type the lines, Inklings draws the list

A heading starts a collection: a list, a tracker, a tally, a mood, recipes, chores. Inklings reads the lines under it and draws them for what they are. This one is a tally. Tap + for a glass.

Try it. Nothing here is saved. As a public page ›

Look back

The review gathers the events of a month or a year. On this day shows what you wrote on this date in earlier years, right on Today, whenever there's something.
