A habit tracker that's just a list
Most habit apps want a streak. Miss a day and the number resets, and the app meant to help starts to feel like a scold. A bullet journal does it differently. A habit is a list of the days you did it, and a missed day is just a gap.
In Inklings, that list is a collection. Here's one to try, a morning stretch with the gaps left in. Tap today to tick it.
Write it as a list
A tracker is a heading and one line for each day you did the thing:
# Stretch Oct 11: Oct 12: Oct 13:
That's all it is. Inklings reads the lines, sees a tracker, and draws it as one: the days you did it marked, the gaps plain. A tap on today ticks it, and writes the line for you.
Count, not just tick
Some habits are a number: glasses of water, pages read, minutes outside. Give the heading an aim and write the day's count:
# Water · 8 a day Oct 12: 6 Oct 13: 3
Inklings draws it as a tally, each glass a dot, against the aim. A tap adds one.
Why a list helps
A list keeps the whole record, not only the current run. After a bad week you can see that the month was still mostly good. And it's plain text: you can read it in any editor, save a copy, and bring it back.
Pin a habit to Today and it sits on the day's page, one tap from done.
